Skype LogoIt appears that Skype isn't working in Dubai anymore.

Well, the popular VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) program hasn't worked in greater-Dubai for a while, but now it's not working in Dubai Media City, either.

And, as I've mentioned here before, at our apartment we get our internet from Media City - which is a free zone.

Or, at least, it was a free zone until April 14, when internet / phone company du started blocking websites that are not "consistent with the moral, cultural and social values of the UAE".

The other phone / internet company, Etisalat, has always blocked the web for the rest of the city. Sites like Flickr, YouTube, parts of Wikipedia, and Skype don't make the cut.

Thankfully we in Media City can still get Flickr and Wikipedia.

But apparently not Skype anymore.
