Boston Marathon logoSo in Boston and Maine and other New England-y areas of the States today is a public holiday known as Patriots' Day - which is a totally different day than the relatively new Patriot Day.

Patriots' Day (the third Monday in April - today) celebrates the Battles of Lexington and Concord, the first battles of the American Revolutionary War.

Patriot Day? Memorial for the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Anyway, today (Patriots' Day) is also known for the running of the Boston Marathon. Traditionally the Boston Red Sox play a morning-ish game, so it'll end as the marathon is ending, and Kenmore Square is flush with all sorts of sports fans.

Makes me miss Boston, too.

I mean, not that I'd ever run the marathon, I just like having the day off and having a legitimate reason to start drinking before noon.

Enjoy your time, my Bostonian friends, and good luck to the runners and the Sox.
