The last news tidbit while we were gone - Emirates Airline is going to start nonstop flights to San Francisco starting on October 26.

This comes after the recent announcements that in September Emirates will be flying from Dubai to Los Angeles (see Los Angeles to Dubai non-stop) and in October Emirates will be flying the new honkin' Airbus A380 to New York daily (see A380 from Dubai to New York).

Though this flight will be on the Boeing 777-200LR, using the same 266 seat arrangement as the flight to Los Angeles.
