This morning I read a new British idiom:

it's swings and roundabouts

Apparently it's "something that you say to describe a situation in which there are as many advantages as there are problems".

You think it's from cricket or something? Kind of like how there are a bunch of American phrases from baseball?

Oddly, I can't think of any Americanism that mean the same thing. Maybe we have to adopt it?
