Dubai World is the company that owns the Palm and World islands, Dubai Waterfront, Discovery Gardens, Ibn Battuta Mall, Dubai Ports World ... pretty much everything that Emaar Properties (Burj Dubai, Dubai Marina, Dubai Mall, Emirates Hills, the Lakes, Views, Greens, Meadows, Springs) doesn't own.Anyway, I guess Dubai World is teaming up with the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) here in some kind of agreement about the roads on the upcoming Palm Deira that I was talking about last week.
So this is the paragraph that I want to share with you. Check out the last line:
He added that Dubai World is working on furthering the joint cooperation with the RTA in a manner that will serve the drive of the RTA, and provide convenient and easy access to the inhabitants of various Nakheel projects. He particularly singled out The Palm Deira; which is one of the giant urban projects in the emirate spanning an area of 48 million square meters (4800 hectare) covering 9 neighbouring islands poised to be inhabited by 1.3 persons.
Hm, 1.3 persons?
12,000 acres ... nine artificial islands ... for not even two people?
This town is crazy, I tells ya. Crazy.
