So this was news, like, on Sunday or Monday, but shoot, I was wallowing in my Super Bowl doldrums then. Over the weekend His Highness, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai named his successor!Yep, he named his second son, Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, as the crown prince of Dubai.
Apparently the 25 year old is currently chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, which is pretty good for a 25 year old. When I was 25, well, shoot, I was living in a hovel outside of which people were being shot, with an oft broke-down car and a dead-end job at a rapidly downsizing company.
Anyway, what I find interesting that nobody here seems to talk about is why Sheikh Mohammed's eldest son, Rashid, has no government role.
Hmmm.
Sheikh Hamdan is also a poet under the, well, alias, handle, tag, pseudonym, nom de plume? of "Fazza3" ... when he apparently often pens eulogies to his father.
Hmmm, if I were His Highness, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai I'd think twice about naming my eulogy-spouting son as successor.
Then again, every Emirati and expatriate lady in Dubai is a fan, I mean, he is a looker:

Here he is with Thomas L. Williams, chairman and CEO of Universal Parks & Resorts:
