I found these pretty cool images of Dubai from satellite on the NASA Earth Observatory website.
Pretty remarkable how different it was 24 years ago. I didn't realize that the creek wasn't real!
And it's amazing how the port of Jebel Ali isn't even there, either! Then again, it is the world's largest artificial harbor. I guess it doesn't matter if there's anything to start with or not.
