Last night was the first time we bought gas since we've been in the country. (Or, at least the first time we bought gas that I was in the car since we've been in the country).
I asked Liz to get a receipt, so I could calculate the price of gas in Dubai, for you, our loyal reader. Plus I was kinda interested, myself.
So last night we spent 46 Dirhams on 7.36 Imperial Gallons of gas. That works out to be 6.25 Dirhams per Imperial Gallon.
But what is that in US Dollars and US gallons?
So 1 Imperial Gallon = 1.201 US Gallons.
Thus 7.36 Imperial Gallons = 8.84 US Gallons.
So that's 46 Dirhams for 8.84 US Gallons of gas.
And 1 Dirham = 0.272264423 US Dollars.
Thus 46 Dirhams = 12.524163458 US Dollars.
So that would mean 12.524163458 US Dollars = 8.84 US Gallons of gas.
Or 1.42 US Dollars = 1 US Gallon of gas.
So a gallon of gas here costs $1.42. That's actually more than I expected.
